Evita Tickets

London Musical
Evita returns to London this summer!
Following a sell-out season at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, this turbocharged show lights up the Barbican over summer: ‘Forget everything you know about Evita: this one properly rocks’ (Time Out). From a life of poverty to spiritual leader of the nation, Eva Perón was loved, hated, derided and venerated. Dividing the Argentinian people with her patriotic speeches, her ambition, glamour and magnetism transformed her into one of the world’s first major political celebrities. Jamie Lloyd reinvents Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s iconic musical, its chart-topping score including ‘Don’t Cry for Me Argentina’, ‘Oh What A Circus’, ‘Another Suitcase in Another Hall’ and ‘You Must Love Me’ – the winner of an Oscar for Best Original Song.

Brilliant show. Excellent direction. Superb dancing and vocals, especially Che who was powerful and good to look at. Thank you for a great evening. Highly recommended!!!!

I think this was the best show I have seen in London. Staging, lighting, sound - all first class. And of course,a wonderful cast. Excellent performances from all. Emma Hatton was brilliant but for me the standout performance was from Gian Marco Schiaretti as Che. Great stage presence, delivery and characterisation.

The actress playing Evita was good however I found the scenes rather difficult to follow. I saw the original with Elaine Paige so was rather spoiled Barry Cager

Excellent performance particularly from Gian Marco Shiatetti as Che and Emma Hatton in the title role.

Didn't really enjoy as felt there was no real story to this, just the same song with different words all the way through. Sorry we were hoping for something more.

Very efficient in every respect. Pleasant staff in bar and an ideal seat in the stalls. We loved the show and the singing of all the major characters was faultless. This is a nice intimate theatre and in a great position in Charing cross Road. We reserved on line and tickets were ready on time.

I’ve seen this 3 times before, unfortunately this was one of the weakest versions, with the notable exception of Che, who was astounding and couldn’t have been better cast. Eva’s character was not at all in keeping with the fiercely ruthlessly ambitious, yet charming and likeable young woman of the people that the original casting intended, but instead came across as simply cold hearted and generally unpleasant from the start. To the point that when she died, it seemed no great emotional loss. It is a fine line indeed when playing this character which unfortunately fell very short with this version. Vocal were also sketchy in the first half, but redeemed in the second somewhat. There was also far too much recycling of Magaldi’s actor to other parts throughout the show, which only goes to break down some of the realism. He is too much of a major part in the show to be reused like this, despite being an excellent performer. I think the size of this theatre also clearly dictated the limitations on the orchestra, which despite some excellent all round performance, seemed to lack the oomph of previous shows. There were also a lot of timing issues, due in part I think to the cuductor seemingly at times, taking his cue and timings from the drummers via video link. I could see this clearly from the front row. Despite this, the show is always a pleasure to see. I just felt leaving a little underwhelmed on this occasion.

Superb production, super sets, great choreography and singing and acting first class. Music is by Lloyd Webber with lyrics by Tim Rice and the whole production brilliantly staged by Bob Tomson. Highly recommend going to see it. Excellent show.
