I am Mamma Mia Obsessed, love the film, stayed at the island where it was filmed, love the soundtrack- my number 1 favourite film of all time. I'd always avoided seeing the show, however, because of my expectations- the trailer on youtube- showing a very simple, unexciting two piece set. But I decided to bite the bullet and had always deep down, wanted to see it. Now, don't get me wrong in thinking that I wasn't swayed by the music and the casts performance- I took the show for what it was and thoroughly enjoyed it. But that's not to say that the show is in dire need of a rehaul. Not only was the set uninspiring, but the staging of the cast was odd. At times, with their backs to the audience- basic stage rules and disengaging. In a few scenes where the bed was used, the cast would lie on it and look up at the ceiling- but no clever camera angles used in the film- just a badly directed scene. Though the small orchestra and backing track was great, the conductor appeared to be coaxing the actors through the songs very animatedly, as if they had never performed the songs before and there was no smooth slide into the songs- it was blatantly obvious and clunky. I absolutely loved the show, I was on my own singing throughout and dancing my way home, but I do not want to see it fall. A lot of money needs to be invested into the show's renovation- along with a fresh new director/choreographer because Lord knows it could be better than what it was.

The show was fantastic. Even though it was a afternoon show, and the theatre was not full, the actors were very dedicated and made a great performance.

The musical was fantastic. We enjoyed during all the performance.

Don't think the music and singing volume was balanced very well. The whole production feels a lot lower value and less impressive than other broadway show. Theater is one of the smallest I have been to, you can only enter the row from left or right, no middle. But my mum is a big fan, atmosphere was good so it's fun none the less.
