London Musical
Michael Linnit and Michael Grade in collaboration with English National Opera presents Kelsey Grammer in Man of La Mancha
Tony Award-winning musical Man of La Mancha returns to the West End in 2019 for its first major London revival in over 40 years. Multi-award winning actor Kelsey Grammer will lead this semi-staged concert production as Don Quixote and as his faithful servant Sancho Panza. Inspired by Miguel de Cervantes’ seventeenth-century masterwork Don Quixote and set during the Spanish Inquisition, Man of La Mancha features classic numbers including “The Impossible Dream,” “I, Don Quixote,” “Dulcinea,” “I Really Like Him” and “Little Bird”. Following the critically acclaimed productions of Chess, Sweeney Todd, Sunset Boulevard and Carousel, Michael Linnit and Michael Grade in collaboration with English National Opera present Man of La Mancha. Man of La Mancha will play a strictly-limited West End season from April 2019 at the London Coliseum. Miguel de Cervantes, failed playwright, poet and tax collector, has been thrown in jail by the Spanish Inquisition for daring to tax a monastery. Awaiting trial Cervantes is hailed before a kangaroo court of his fellow prisoners; thieves, cutthroats and trollops who propose to confiscate his meagre possessions one of which is the uncompleted manuscript of a novel called “Don Quixote.” Cervantes, seeking to save it, proposes to offer a novel defence in the form of entertainment. As Cervantes and his servant transform into Don Quixote & Sancho Panza, his wild imagination leads them into a campaign to restore the age of chivalry, to battle evil and right all wrongs.

    Very well staged

We really enjoyed this. Although the musical is 50 years old, it stands the test of time as much of it is Spanish-influenced. I wasn't sure Kelsey Grammer would be up to singing The Impossible Dream but he was fabulous. Nicholas Lyndhurst was also excellent as the drunken innkeeper. Danielle de Niese deserves mention as the female lead with a great, strong voice. I thought the windmill could have been a bit more obvious, from where I was sitting I could only see two sails and it didn't really look like a windmill. It's only on for a short time, so catch it soon.

I really enjoyed the show, and thought the staging was superb. The stellar cast performed really well as an ensemble and theuse of the stage and scenery was very effective. An excellent way to be transported to the world of Don Quixote.

Absolutely exquisite from start to finish. Completely star struck by Kelsey Grammer. The most amazing voices from the entire cast. Out of this world sets with lots of dramatic scene changes. In total, a triumph!

Arriving here from Canada and seeing this performance made our heart glow with Truth that Man can escape from dwindling spiral of his own disabilities and return to ability to play the game and Win, again. Increased ability to go against aberrated man and certainty of knowingness that Truth will always Win over vast secrecies held away from him. Truly Brilliant. Marina R..
