London Opera
The Merry Widow is Franz Lehár‘s comic masterpiece, played out in a stream of memorable melodies.
The Merry Widow is Franz Lehár‘s comic masterpiece, played out in a stream of memorable melodies including the familiar ‘Vilja Song’ and ‘Merry Widow Waltz’. With a truly glamourous setting, Lehár’s operetta centres on the relationship between the dazzling and wealthy young widow Hanna and Danilo, who has an appetite for wine and women. As this delightful tale of a woman’s quest for love unfolds, their burgeoning romance is hampered by mishap, intrigue and comedic misadventure.

    Wonderful evening.

    A very enjoyable production

Dance routines rather stifled and the age gap between Hannah and Danilo was out of character. Why on earth were beavers introduced, they made the production rather tacky

Superb production aided and abetted by the magnificent costumes Unfortunately most of the audience in the stalls near me looked as if they had left their motorbikes outside and others as if they had been having a picnic in Hyde Park. I think the management should offer a 25% price reduction to customers who wear evening dress

It was a wonderful show. The set, cast, music were first class.

I liked it. Was funny. Although the second half dragged on quite a bit.

    Fantastic show

Outstanding show! Great humour, singing, Orchestra, showmanship, acrobatics, costume design, and performanced by the staff. Only critique is that the lighting team could have done a better job positioning lights on actors/supporting-actors.

The plot is ridiculous, the English wording appalling, but there were some good tunes, and the lead roles were well played.I fell asleep in part of the first half, and a few people left! Thank goodness we did not lash out on Stall seats at almost £150.

Your commission is exorbitant and particularly offensive as it only becomes apparent after the purchase.

We loved the show but it is a shame that a theatre of this Calibre leaves the audience standing in the foyer until 7.30pm ( the advertised start time for the show).

    Very good

I have given Value for Money only 3 stars. The doors to the auditorium were supposed to open at 7.00 pm. They did not open until 7.30 pm. The waiting area for the dress circle became very crowded and hot and I was unable to sit down (83 years old). I nearly went to the box office to demand a refund but the doors opened just in time for me to decide to stay. The show started 15 minutes late and therefore ended late.
