Brilliant performance, ingenious and very funny adaptation of a classic

More laughs than I expected. More like a panto than a play. Thoroughly enjoyed it.

Very disappointing show. Good acting by Jim Broadbent but didn't expect it to be a farcical comedy and the scenery was pantomime quality.

Wow.. A brilliant show.. Jim broad bent was an excellent Scrooge being both grumpy, mean and heartless to happy, childlike and joyful in the blink of an eye.. The supporting cast was funny and also sad. So well acted. The use of puppets for tiny Tim and legs for flying through the different Christmasses, was inspired and worked really well and somehow we thought they were real. Absolutely marvellous and started my December off with a bang.. Christmas spirit here!

Although we are traditionalists and love the many excellent film versions of this classic story, especially the Alastair Sim version, my wife and I enjoyed this different take on an old favourite. We thought the production was original, funny and very well performed by the excellent cast. Jim Broadbent as Scrooge was brilliant and there was definitely a nod to Alastair sim in his protrayal. The imaginative use of the sets and the puppetry added to the overall enjoyable experience. The cast and crew worked extremely hard with all the changes of character and sets. We would recommend this to our friends

This show was amazing and one of the best theater show's I have seen in a long while. Jim Broadbent was excellent and so was the the rest of the cast. The clever use of props throughout had the audiences laughing. Would definitely recommend this over any other show this Christmas.

Not what We were expecting , very small cast and it got very silly with the use of puppets. My idea of Christmas is music and good Old London scenes . Of course Jim Broadbent was amazing but would have liked less puppets and more singing .

Different take but lots of fun and it was funny

Absolutely loved it. Jim Broadbent played a very likeable and somewhat comedic Scrooge. Fantastic performance. For the cast of 7 to play so many different characters with so many costumes changes was extraordinary. Would recommend this to all.

Was very disappointed with the whole production did not deliver the festive atmosphere that you would expect from Christmas Carol was very low budget, did not get value for money at £70 a ticket.

I thought the small cast were al great, stage sets ditto, all in all a good night BUT it did take me a while to get into the slight deviation from Dickens "script"

Thoroughly enjoyed a very different and unique production, and the portrayal of the story in a very clever way. Would recommend it anyone as a must see show. Well done.

Jim broad bent was fantastic. Not too much seriousness more comedy with all actors appearing to enjoy as much as the audience. Good choice if you're too old for panto

Great show cast very good Jim Broadbent was brilliant

  • Review Avatar Dec 6, 2015

Very good but not quite what we were expecting

  • Review Avatar Dec 7, 2015

Disappointing. I was expecting a more traditional production - it was too "modern" for my taste and more pantomime than anything else. There was a scenery malfunction and a few fluffed lines from the lead actor which added to the amateurish feel. If you don't know the book or the original film, and / or you have children you may enjoy it however.

Absolutely loved it and Jim Broadbent as Scrooge was brilliant. My whole family absolutely adore this story so every Christmas we try and see a version of it, this one was surprisingly different whilst still making it a true interpretaation of the Dickens story.
