London Play
Richard Gadd's Baby Reindeer comes to the Ambassador's Theatre for 1 month only
I looked at her, wanting her to laugh. Wanting her to share in the joke. But she didn’t. She just stared. I knew then, in that moment – that she had taken it literally… When Edinburgh Comedy Award Winner Richard Gadd (Monkey See Monkey Do) offers a free cup of tea to a stranger, what appears to be a trivial interaction has ramifications far wider than he could ever have imagined. Fresh from a world premiere at the Edinburgh Fringe this summer, Baby Reindeer is an unmissable debut play and chilling personal narrative exploring obsession, delusion, and the aftermath of a chance encounter. Directed by Olivier Award Winner Jon Brittain (Rotterdam). “Frankly magnificent” Fest ★★★★ “A true one off” Daily Telegraph ★★★★★ “A mercurial talent” The Independent ★★★★

The play left us feeling very invested and moved by the story. The acting was brilliant, we were shocked by Gadd’s bravery and the small intense theatre made it even more angaging.

    A thought provoking piece

Emotional, honest, gripping, traumatic - and delivered with empathy and humour.

This was one of the best things I have seen in long time. The story kept me on the edge of the seat through all 70 min. Incredible performance!

I saw baby reindeer yesterday and it’s definitely left a lasting impression on me. What an extremely brave and very clever & talented man you are Richard Gadd. I can’t recommend this enough for anyone that wantsto see a great acting performance with rawness, truth and vulnerability thrown in.

I enjoyed this performance although it was loud and very disturbing. Well done to Richard Gadd for bringing to light a horrific experience that many people today are caught up in. I was impressed by the studio theatre. A good view from all seats.

Something different. I liked the intimacy of the space and how engaged you became. An interesting concept and executed well.

I felt a mixture of emotions after seeing the play - it was strange to be laughing one minute and horrified the next. I can’t believe that someone could unpick someone’s life to the point of such devastation. Brilliant narration and use of effects. Stunning and sober stuff.
