The script was a bit cringey and some of the jokes didnt land (mostly the ones directly from the book which work to make the reading more enjoyable but arent laugh out loud lines). However the story was amazing and enthralling (as i remember from reading the book all those years ago), the acting was good especially the 2 characters that doubled, and the directing and choreography (the slow motion!!!) was amazing! The set was incredibly well designed. Lighting and sound - impeccable. Really impressed! But a bit pricey, i paid the same for this as i did for wicked. But that might just be me.

The play was well written and well acted. Interesting venue, diamond ticket seats comfortable with an excellent view, and very good value.

    I laughed a lot!

An amusing diversion, but it needs a toilet break

The show was very funny with an impressive talented cast and clever directing which captures the feel of the book perfectly.

My family loved this show, ages 11 to 51! The portrayal of the story was done very well, we all laughed out loud at the brilliant acting.

Excellent play, and good ambience, although my seat was broken. Slight issue re location as London Theatre Direct gave the wrong address, but we got there just in time.

Enthusiastic actors - venue / staff unfortunate

  • Review Avatar Jul 29, 2019

slick and witty production, with laugh out loud humour, great pace and tour de force acting from the small cast. Only quibble was the high price of the tickets, especially no discount for children given it was a children's show and given the fun but not exactly lavish venue.

    Excellent performance!

For the price of these tickets the show felt workshopped. Accurate direction on slapstick and timing was missing and so many adult laughs were lost. The show lacked substance and atmosphere.
