The Night of the Iguana Tickets

London Play
Tennessee Williams' The Night of the Iguana starring Clive Owen, Lia Williams, Anna Gunn, and Julian Glover
Thrown together for one eventful night that pulses with conflicting passions and a surprising edge of humour, a group of tourists including Shannon, a disgraced priest (Clive Owen), and a troubled artist Hannah (Lia Williams) arrive at a remote coastal Mexican hotel run by the beautifully sensual Maxine (Anna Gunn). Tennessee Williams’s last great play THE NIGHT OF THE IGUANA comes to the West End starring Clive Owen (Closer, Children of Men), Lia Williams (Kiri, Mary Stuart), Anna Gunn (Deadwood, Breaking Bad) and Julian Glover (Game of Thrones) directed by James Macdonald (Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf). One night brings them together, and will leave them forever altered. What path will they choose?

The biggest problem here is the play itself - second or maybe even third rate TW. The film version trims the excess, but then the theatregoer finds himself wishing for Burton, Gardner, and Kerr instead of the three leads here. Patrons should also note that viewing of some downstage action is limited in the balcony seats.

I did not like the play very much or the set. The story which I looked up on google was not that interesting not one of Tennesee Williams great plays. I did not stay to the end.

Atmospheric stage set, terrific performances - highlight of my brief pit stop in London. Clive Owen is fantastic as the tormented Rev Lawrence Shannon.

Great actors, great author, beautiful stage set up, but found the plot a bit dull.

I didn't know the play. A good production but some of the acting was too exaggerated for me. I left in the interval.

E were in the Grand Circle and it was very hard to hear all the actors , most of them either were turned away from the audience or the were mumbling and the us accents seemed to come and go. Also it was supposed top be very astomospheric and claustophobic but it wasnt, maybe too big a theatre for such a production

theacting was superb as was the set and effects but in my opinion the actual play has had its day and was rather tired.

Great performances. Rather over-long, especially the second act. Enjoyed it very much.

It's not one of Tennessee Williams's finest plays but the acting and direction are out of the top draw.
