Ben Elton brings his critically acclaimed and much adored BBC sitcom UPSTART CROW to its natural home, the stage, with an all-new comic play set to delight London's West End. 'Tis 1605 and England's greatest playwright is in trouble. Will Shakespeare has produced just two plays; Measure for Measure, which according to King James was incomprehensible bollingbrokes by any measure, and All's Well That Ends Well which didn't even end well. Will desperately needs to maketh a brilliant new play to bolster his reputation and avoid being cast aside by King and country. But Will's personal life is encountering more dramatic twists and turns than any theatrical story he can conjure. How the futtock can a Bard be expected to find a plot for a play whilst his daughters run amok and his house is used as refuge for any old waif and stray. As time runs out, can Will hold on to his dream of being recognised now and for all time, as indisputably the greatest writer that ever lived, or will family woes thwart Will's chances of producing his masterwork?

Fabulous show! Very funny, very Ben Elton. You don’t have to be a Shakespeare buff to enjoy it. We laughed the whole way through.

Futtucking marvellous I was so looking forward to this, that I was afraid I would be disappointed. Not a bit of it. It was better than I could have imagined. A return of the sparking form wit and laugh out loud hilarity. Every member of the cast slipped seamlessly into their roles again. New storylines and references to the well loved catch phrases. A brilliant play. Thinking of booking to see it again, that’s how good it is.

Brilliant, hilarious and well crafted. Having seen all the TV episodes and one live recording this did not disappoint save Shakespeare’s wife not appearing in this stage version. Utterly recommend and worthy of a UK tour.

Overall, this is a very funny, well researched, topical at times and intelligent production with outstanding cast members. A very enjoyable and memorable 2 hours.

Having followed all 3 series of the television production on BBC it was an absolute pleasure to see such a fantastic live performance on stage. Enjoyed all the characters but as always David Mitchell was, for me, the stand out performer. Would love to see the show again.

Cleverly written, bawdy, hilarious comic delivery, all in all a veritable masterpiece (not to mention the coddangle - wahey!)

I loved every minute of it though was take aback at the lack of knowledge of Shakespeare on the part of the audience. Thank you for putting on such a delightful play and for being one of the loveliest theatre in London - your staff are wonderful, too. I may well come to the play again as it was one of the best things I've ever seen. Please tell David Mitchell he is the top Ann Casement

I actually bought the tickets as a gift for my husband as he likes the TV show, I wasn't so keen myself. However this live show was brilliant and funny. Gemma Whelan was superb and, in my opinion, stole the show.

If you like the TV show, you’ll love the play. Funniest play I’ve seen in years.

One of the best shows I’ve ever seen, I loved it!

Utterly hilarious my sides were aching from laughing so much. So pleased to see almost all of the original television cast in the show. Complex and well thought out storyline with a simple set that allows focus on the story and characters. It would have been awesome to have the actor who plays Kit (Christopher Marlowe) butbthis didn’t take away form the experience at all. I would pay to see it again!

A wonderful adaption from the TV screen to stage. Upstart Crow and its cast takes full advantage of being played live to an audience of like minded laugh-aholics.

A very entertaining evening of comedic entertainment, just on the right side of bawdy. We particularly enjoyed seeing David Mitchell’s performance on stage.
