The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show Tickets

The iconic children’s character, The Very Hungry Caterpillar, nibbles his way into the West End this summer
The Very Hungry Caterpillar, by author/illustrator Eric Carle has delighted generations of readers since it was first published in 1969 selling more than 43 million copies worldwide. Eric’s well-known books captivated readers with his iconic colourful hand-painted tissue paper collage illustrations and distinctively simple stories, introducing generations of children to a bigger, brighter world – and to their first experience of reading itself. The timeless classic has made its way off the page and onto the stage. Created by Jonathan Rockefeller, the critically acclaimed production of The Very Hungry Caterpillar Show features a menagerie of 75 lovable puppets, faithfully adapting four of Eric Carle’s stories, Brown Bear, 10 Little Rubber Ducks, The Very Lonely Firefly and of course, the star of the show celebrating its 50th Birthday in 2019 The Very Hungry Caterpillar.

Our 2 boys aged 2 and 4 really enjoyed the show. It was just the right length and held their attention throughout.

It was a bit slow and lacked audience participation otherwise it was good

The show was just the right length & aimed perfectly at the toddler age-group. The music-track & voice amplification were perfect (not too loud) and the actors, particularly the narrator in the first half, were energised but not too over-the-top for this age-group. I noticed the children were getting restless with the long parade of fishes in that scene (perhaps less fish?) The lighting was generally okay but more creativity could have been employed with that at times. The seats for little ones were low if there was an adult sitting in front of them. Perhaps cushions could be rented to elevate the children somewhat, or advice given to the ticket buyer to bring something for the child to sit on. (I rolled up my overcoat for the littlest one.) The cost of the Hungry Caterpillar merchandise was quite enormous...created some tears when we weren't prepared to pay £25 for a Caterpillar! More merchandise could have been sold if the prices were more reasonable. Overall, we all enjoyed the show enormously (2 families which included 4 toddlers)...plus grandma (me). Congratulations. To all involved. We are looking forward to next year's offering.

Booster seats were available which was great. Sound wasn't that great and was a bit muffled where we sat (stalls row N). The first half, based on other Eric Carle stories, dragged a bit and the children started getting restless. However there were some nice and creative touches (the "paintings" were very clever). However, once the Hungry Caterpillar story started everyone got excited, the puppets were fab, and there was much more audience interaction/participation. The butterfly ending was just lovely too! Thought doing this with just 4 cast members was impressive staging. Bravo to all involved, our 3 year old boy had a great time!

The show was very age appropriate and very enjoyable. Tickets we paid £27each seemed overpriced. Advertised at £14 each?

A very child-friendly show which would be good for children of all ages, including babies and toddlers. My five-year old enjoyed it so much as had to come again. Very well thought through colour-schemes and actors interaction. Well done.

Amazing! Something really different than the usual kids shows. Beautiful colours and excellent messages behind every scene. Very well done. Couldn’t recommend more!!

Absolutely loved this! I thought the highlight would be the Hungry Catterpillar part of the production but it was all wonderful. Loved the sea-horses particularly. 3 year old daughter enjoyed it a lot but I wish I’d taken my 10 month old too.

I thought everything was fine with the production apart from one thing - it was too short. Didn't even take an hour, so felt a bit short changed. 3 stories - interval then another 3 would have been better, instead of 4 in a row.

    My grandsons loved the show

First row had very limited view for 2.5 year old. But the show was amazing.

Such a well-produced, simple and visually engaging theatre show. Kids loved it! Puppets were beautiful and well expressed. Just lovely :)

The show was imaginative and visually stimulating. My 2 year old grandson was transfixed. I liked the chance for audience participation, and think that the show could definitely capitalise on that. The only downside was that it started late and the parking of pushchairs could have been better organised.

My 3 year old loved it! Really well done

The show was amazing, it was brilliant. We all really enjoyed the performance. For a kids show the price should be cheaper.
