War Horse, the international hit play based on Michael Morpurgo's beloved novel brings life-sized puppet horses to vivid life on stage.War Horse at Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre War Horse returns to London this Autumn as part of the UK and International tour, for a limited season at the Troubadour Wembley Park Theatre, an exciting new venue located just steps away from Wembley Stadium. Based on the beloved novel by Michael Morpurgo, this powerfully moving and imaginative drama, filled with stirring music and songs, is a show of phenomenal inventiveness. At its heart are astonishing life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses to thrilling life on stage. At the outbreak of World War One, Joey, young Albert’s beloved horse, is sold to the Cavalry and shipped to France. He’s soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary journey, serving on both sides before finding himself alone in no man’s land. Albert, who remained on his parents’ Devon farm, cannot forget Joey. Though still not old enough to enlist he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home. An excellent production, well worth the visit. Although we were in stalls near the front that was not a limitation. The programme at £4 was very good value.

the horses are amazingly managed, they are expressive and textructuraly incredible. The performance of some actors was a little bit exaggerated and "over" done.

Brilliant show. It took all of five minutes before you accepted the horse Joey as a character in his own right. It gave a real insight to all the children who were in the audience about what war is really about. My wife didn't think the "effing" word was necessary. However she still thought the show was brilliant.

Very good. Sat in AA 9-11 and views were very good for us (5'6 - 6' adults and child) plus good leg room. And action right next to us.

Would love to give this 4.5 but dont have that option. It was good to see World War 1 portayed in a way that all ages could relate to, which was appropriate considering there was alot of school children in the audience. Thoroughly enjoyed the puppetry. It was done so well. Very enjoyable and did leave me teary on occasion which showed how real it felt.

Theatre was easy to locate, nice modern design [the name is the clue], seats in the stalls were very good with eye level above the stage platform, plenty of leg room, although the leg room area was used by the actors to run along. Bar area was open & spacious with a quick service by the staff. Although I had chosen the seats on line, when booking the agent suggested another two seats which he considered were in a better position, he did not let us down. One small whinge, they could open the seating area a little earlier. My wife enjoyed the whole experience & became a bit tearful at the end of Warhorse [I did explain it is only a puppet!].
