Kiln Theatre presents WHEN THE CROWS VISIT by Anupama Chandrasekhar …and all the sins of his father and his forefathers came out of his body, through the pores of his skin, in the form of crows. When a son returns home after being accused of a violent crime, a mother is forced to confront the ghosts of her past when the crows visit. Inspired by true events in modern-day India, Anupama Chandrasekhar explores the themes of Ibsen’s Ghosts and the cyclical nature of oppression in a dark and thrilling world premiere.

We loved the staging of the piece and were very impressed visually. But we both had trouble understanding the dialogue. The actors had such very strong accents. Really I think we missed about half to two thirds of what they were saying, so therefore difficult to get the full story.

    Amazing show

I thought it was massively irresponsible to have a drawn out brutal rape scene, offstage or not. It was gratuitously long, and created an inescapable, triggering enrivonment for viewers.

Excellent play depicting life in India generations gone. Highlighting current issues of rape and murder repeating itself. And how rich and influential families get away from murder charges. All the actors did their part well. Particularly the newcomer Paul.

It was a very powerful play. Good acting, this play is not for the faint hearted. It left me disturbed.

Certain actors dialogues were not very clear Missed what they said quite a bit. Not sure it was due to sound issues but it certainly needs looking into.

Brilliant script, performed well supported by effective set design. Soni Razdan's performance was on point.

It was a great show with an excellent plot twist. But in areas it was lacking pace, and there was too much shouting in certain parts, especially between the two mother's. The scene would've been more effective if there was less loud shouting.

Funny, harrowing and anything in between. Highly recommended.
